Sponsored by TransitionSF, the Permaculture Guild, and San Francisco Bicycle Coalition

Join TransitionSF and the San Francisco Permaculture Guild on bike rides
that explore life-enriching food, water and energy projects in the
city. The Transition Tours showcase local efforts that create
community and support both the environment and economy.

Lots of Abundance
What happens to abandoned lots and former freeways?
See the fruits of community labor transforming vacant space
into urban farms. Learn about reclaiming land for public use,
rejuvenating polluted soil, and restoring connections to the food we eat.

Sunday, July 18 - meet 9:45 AM at CCA FARM (8th St. and Hooper
St.).  2.5 hour ride.

Water, Water, Everywhere…
How can “waste” water be reused? Visit
public projects and private residences that aren’t all wet in their
approach to greywater and rainwater.   Learn about greywater systems,
rainwater harvesting, and the history of water in San Francisco.

Saturday, July 24 - meet 9:45 AM at Garden for the Environment (7th
Ave. and Lawton). 2.5 hour ride.

Solar Systems
Why let the free energy in sunlight go to waste?
See electric and hot water systems at residential and commercial sites.
Hear how one resident organized her neighborhood block to go solar
together and purchase individual electric systems at a group discount.
The extension will continue to Heron's Head Park for a visit to the
EcoCenter - San Francisco's first completely off-grid building.

Saturday, September 11 - meet 9:45 AM at Koshland Park (Page St.
and Buchanan St.).  2 hour ride plus optional 1.5 hour extension.
