Trans* Health Study

My name is Smitty. I am researcher from Portland State University in Portland, Oregon, USA and am conducting a study on Trans* Healthcare in the United States.

I am especially interested in analyzing the role of community-based organizations and healthcare providers and researchers in supporting Trans* healthcare in the United States. This project is the first part of a larger project to develop a new Trans* sexual health promotion and testing program.

As part of this project I am seeking to interview individuals like yourself who work/have worked on HIV, AIDS, sexuality, and reproductive health through an community-based organization, community movement, healthcare provider and/or governmental agency.

The interview would take about 60 minutes and would explore (1) your involvement with community-based organizations and community healthcare movements; (2) the political and social changes in Trans* healthcare, and (3) your thoughts on the challenges and opportunities for achieving expanded Trans* healthcare, especially related to sexual/reproductive health. These questions will be focused on five topic areas: access, stigma, culturally competent research/education, gatekeepers and money/funding.

You would have the option of deciding (1) whether your name will be associated with your interview, or (2) whether the interview will be entirely confidential and its content never associated with your name or any identifying information that might link your statements to your identity.

With your consent I would also like to digitally-record the interview to support data analysis and to obtain examples and quotes to use in reports, publications, presentations, and other public sharing of study findings. I have attached the consent form for your review.

Let me know when a good time to set up an interview would be. Thank you for considering participating in this project. I look forward to having the opportunity to speak with you.
