About

When I started this, I did so because I am a transgender Christian and I could find no online resource for this important group. As you can see on the Links page now, I was obviously wrong. I think there's still a reason to exist, and that is the following:

  • Representation of all available views from Christians. While I personally affirm transgenderism, I want to leave space for those who disagree. I also want to dedicate space for genderqueer perspectives which are new and underrepresented.
  • An intersection for as many other online contributions as I can find.
  • Asking hard questions. Without offense to other online writers, there seems no truly academic or unbiased work. I want to see real theology done.

My Positions

Some items I've written myself and I've also relied on many other people out there. The moral of transgenderism is don't believe everything you read, and that goes here, too. I'm trying to get information out into public access, not to define what trans Christians do or should think and I firmly believe that carving out a place for ourself means taking ideas out of context and bringing them into our own space and transforming them into something useful. Some resources are debatable as being Christian and some plain heretical; some are trans friendly and some trans hostile. Nevertheless, all truth is God's truth.

Nevertheless, I do have my own beliefs.I believe there are as many genders as there are people. We don't fit into two groups and shouldn't force ourselves. Those who know they are men should live like men, women like women, and those like me who are neither should live as neither. To see them more fully, see Ephilei's Positions.

It Gets Messy

This is partly a playground, a place to see what's possible and what's helpful to transgender Christians.

You might notice the site is pretty messy with empty pages, bad grammar, and unfinished sentences. This is partly because my mind doesn't construct things linearly and partly because I decided I'd rather publish things that are rough and incomplete than publish nothing at all. I'm not trying to impress anyone, just getting as much information into the public as I can. Pages will be updated without much notice - but I make Announcements for major updates. The site is akin to a wiki content is more valuable than presentation and is open for collaboration. Or, think of it as a beta release. This is partly a exclusion of some personal responsibility: I claim the right to change my mind and makes mistakes, correcting them later. So I'm eager to be corrected on factual errors.

Statement of Faith

My beliefs are summed up quite well by the Nicene Creed.

I believe in one God, the Father, the Almighty, Creator of heaven and earth, and of all things visible and invisible.
And in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only begotten Son of God, begotten of the Father before all ages.
Light of Light, true God of true God, begotten, not created, of one essence with the Father, through whom all things were made.
For us and for our salvation, He came down from heaven and was incarnate by the Holy Spirit and the Virgin Mary and became man.
He was crucified for us under Pontius Pilate, and He suffered and was buried.
On the third day He rose according to the Scriptures.
He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead. His kingdom will have no end.
And in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the Giver of Life, who proceeds from the Father, who together with the Father and the Son is worshiped and glorified, who spoke through the prophets.
In one, holy, catholic, and apostolic Church.
I acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins.
I expect the resurrection of the dead.
And the life of the age to come. Amen.
