The Americas

    In the United States:

Immigration is a growing issue today. Approximately 11.2 million illegal immigrants currently reside in the United States. About 60% of those immigrants have lived here for more than one decade. There are three main reasons why immigrants come to America: family, work, and freedom. Almost every illegal immigrant wishes that they could legally become a citizen. However, many do not qualify, and others simply do not have the time to wait for citizenship. This immensely diminishes their chances of achieving their dream: to live a free, successful, and fulfilling life.
The majority of the immigrants in the United States are from Mexico, accounting for 57% of the immigrant population. Other major areas are other Latin America, Asia, Europe & Canada, and Africa. California, Texas, Florida, and New York are the states with the highest number of illegal immigrants.
