2009 Varsity Softball

 

Season Preview: The bruins are looking to continue a tradition of success this season on the softball diamond. The bruins graduated six seniors from last years team including 3x all county players Devon Kelly and Kim Johnson. This year's team will be lead by right handed pitcher Ashley Ainbinder. Ashley is in her fourth season as a varsity starter and has been all-conference for the past two seasons. This years team is a nice blend of experience and youth led by captains Amanda Rittmeier and Brianna Selesky.

Breaking News:
May 6....Baldwin defeats MacArthur 6-5.  Ashley Ainbinder allowed 3 earned runs and struck out seven to earn the victory. The bruins compiled 14 hits offensively including a four run inning in the third with brianna selesky, katie greene, jasmine abreu, and arielle cummings all drving in an rbi.
With the game tied in the seventh, sophmore Candice Viggiano stroked a double to left center and was later driven in by Amanda Rittmeier to give the bruins a 6-5 win.


Baldwin vs Freeport: Junior Pitcher Ashley Ainbinder pitched her first career no-hitter on Wednesday April 8 against Freeport. Ashley struck out five and walked three to secure her teams 15-0 win. Freshman Olivia Phillips smacked her first career varsity homerun in the Bruins win.
