Owner Quintin McClellan has over 21 years working with
trees. In 1998 he founded Hemlock Rescue and Restoration, to combat the
outbreak of hemlock wooly adelgid that was beginning in Southwestern Virginia.
As customers requested additional tree services, Quintin expanded the business
scope, and launched Total Tree Health Care, Inc. He has a B.S. in Forestry
and Wildlife Resources from Virginia Tech, and was a research associate
in Forest Entomology at Virginia Tech for seven years prior to starting his business.
Quintin has successfully completed training programs
in climbing skills, precision felling, chain saw safety, and level I rigging.
This expert training was provided by Arbor
Master Training, Inc., a firm offering hands-on training programs specifically
designed to improve the skill, safety and productivity of tree care professionals.
Quintin received his arborist certification from the International Society
of Arboriculture (ISA). Quintin is an ISA member and his company holds membership
with the National Arborists Association.
An arborist is a specialist in the care of individual trees. Arborists are knowledgeable about the needs of trees and are trained and equipped to provide proper care. An arborist by definition is an individual who is trained in the art and science of planting, caring for, and maintaining individual trees. Certified Arborists are individuals who have achieved a level of knowledge in the art and science of tree care through experience and by passing a comprehensive examination developed by some of the nation’s leading experts on tree care. Certified Arborists must also continue their education to maintain their certification. Therefore, you can be confident they that they are up to date on the best and latest practices arboriculture.
