I was born in Glasgow and originally trained as a nurse. I have been a qualified nurse for over 27 years, worked mainly in sexual health, primarily as a sexual health adviser and recently as an Advanced Nurse Practitioner in General Practice.
My interest in counselling and how it could help people started when I was an associate nurse working at an AIDS Hospice in London. This led me to taking a professional qualification in counselling in 1998 gaining a Diploma in 2001 and a Master of Science in Counselling in 2012 both at the University of Strathclyde.
