Scouting is a great program that everyone should try because you can make new friends, have new experiences, learn new things, and have fun while doing it!
Requirements:
Boy Scouting is available to boys who have earned the Arrow of Light rank and are at least 10 years old – or - have completed the fifth grade and are at least 11. The program achieves the BSA's objectives of developing character, citizenship, and personal fitness.
Meetings:
We meet as a troop every tuesday during the school year. During meeting we aim to help younger and newer scouts get started, give scouts time to work on completing individual rank requirements, and play some games. Check the 'Contact Us' tab on this website for more info.
Mission:
The mission of the Boy Scouts of America is to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Scout Law.
The vision of the Boy Scouts of America is to ensure every eligible youth in America becomes a responsible, participating citizen and leader who is guided by the Scout Oath and Scout Law.
Since 1910, Scouting has helped mold the future leaders of this country by combining educational activities and lifelong values with fun.
The Boy Scouts of America provides youth with programs and activities that allow them to:
Try new things
Provide service to others
Build self-confidence
Reinforce ethical standards
While various activities and youth groups teach basic skills and promote teamwork, Scouting goes beyond that and encourages youth to achieve a deeper appreciation for service to others in their community.
Scouting provides youth with a sense that they are important as individuals. It is communicated to them that those in the Scouting family care about what happens to them, regardless of whether a game is won or lost.
Scouting promotes activities that lead to personal responsibility and high self-esteem. As a result, when hard decisions have to be made, peer pressure can be resisted and the right choices can be made.
Scouting, with programs for young men and women, helps meet these six essential needs of the young people growing up in our society:
Troop 07 is all about High Adventure! Outings such as campouts, bike treks, hikes and sailing trips are an integral part of Boy Scouting in Troop 07. The Troop takes advantage of the year-round temperate climate in Singapore and South East Asia by organizing regular outings. The boys have camped close to home throughout Singapore and neighbouring countries. Although there are too many trips to name, some of the all-time favourite trips have included sailing trips around the islands of Phuket, Thailand, performing service projects in the mountains of Nepal, camping in Mongolia, and climbing Mount Kinabalu on Borneo.
We have also been fortunate enough to reserve spots for many of our Scouts to participate in high adventure expeditions to the Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico, Northern Tier in both Minnesota and Canada, and Sea Base in Florida. This is truly a once in a lifetime opportunity for many of our boys!
Troop 07 keeps Scouts engaged and active while instilling in them all the characteristics of caring, contributing members of society. If this sounds like something that might interest you, please consider attending one of our weekly meetings to see for yourself what Singapore BSA Troop 07 is all about! You won't regret it!
The troop meets on Tuesday evenings from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm at the Singapore American School high school. Please send a message to info@bsatroop07.org for more information! We look forward to seeing you!
