Testimonials

I began tutoring lessons with Mrs Tong through her workshops, which is a helpful, innovative way of learning the skills required for Year 11 and 12 Chemistry. Her time and effort is evident through the topic-based booklets that she provides in these workshops. The exercises and examples they contain use simple steps that helped to improve my chemistry learning in correlation with the syllabus.

The holiday group workshops were a worthwhile addition to the tutoring programme allowing me to gain an understanding of future difficult syllabus topics in advance of learning them at school.

Year 11 Workshops

MODULE 2 : Introduction to Quantitative Chemistry

Workshop Topics

Chemical Reactions and Stoichiometry – this workshop focuses on developing your skills for writing balanced chemical equations, including a revision of writing chemical formulae, if needed. Changing masses and volumes in reactions are also studied.

Mole Concept Introduction – this workshop introduces the mole concept in a simple, easy to comprehend manner. Calculations covered include molar mass, mass to moles (and vice versa) and Avogadro's constant.

Advanced Mole Calculations – this workshop covers more challenging mole calculations and assumes knowledge and skills covered in the introductory workshop. Calculations covered include percentage composition, empirical formulae and limiting reagents reactions.

Concentration and Molarity  Calculations – this workshop  assumes knowledge and skills covered in the introductory workshop. Calculations covered include concentration calculations including molarity, parts per million and dilutions.

Gas Law Calculations – this workshop explores the mathematical relationships stated in Gay-Lussac's Law,  Boyle's Law, Charles' Law and Avogadro's Law. Calculations covered include the equations for the above relationships and the combined gas equation, molar volume (introductory mole workshop skills are assumed) and the Ideal Gas Law.

Workshops are conducted on an individual basis, ensuring that the student receives the individual help that they need.
Students are able to form their own small groups for bookings if they prefer. Discounts will apply to their group booking as shown below.
