Introduction

Here are my ZyXEL Prestige 660R-61 settings.

ZyXEL Prestige 660R-61 (ZyXEL P-660R-61)

Description

ADSL 2+ modem (RJ11). LAN only. IPv4.

Change Settings

1) Unplug modem's cable from the wall.

2) OS X 10.7: System Preferences: Network: Local Area Network

Configure IPv4: Manually

IP Address: 192.168.1.30 (my PC)

Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0

Router: 192.168.1.1 (ZyXEL modem)

3) Go to: http://192.168.1.1/

Advanced Setup

LAN (LAN: your local network (LAN) is connected to internet (WAN) through your Prestige. Your LAN may have multiple clients that need to know their IP addresses.)

DHCP: [None] (Use Prestige as your LAN's DHCP server. DHCP is used with DNS. Prestige can work as DHCP server to assign IP addresses to clients.)

(As a home user I have no Telnet/FTP/Web servers that need to be contacted. First four settings are from WAN to LAN, so they can be disabled.)

UPnP (UPnP: find other UPnP devices on the network. UPnP Traversal automates UPnP through NAT. Should work with Windows Messenger 4.7, which uses UPnP (as does Xbox). Messenger 5.0 and Xbox were still tested during the writing of the Prestige manual.)

[ ] Allow users to make configuration changes through UPnP (UPnP devices may configure Prestige, so they can communicate through Prestige. Try to enable this option with the above one, if you are having problems with UPnP.)

("Time calibration failed": look for this message when having problems with NTP servers.)

("Successful TELNET login": someone has logged on to Prestige.)
