This is a photo record of our experiment with hydroponic tomato plants. This system is called dutch buckets. Many of the ideas for how to set up a dutch bucket hydroponic system came from this video.

Plants started in (cat litter) buckets.

After two weeks. Also added some pepper plants and a basil plant just visible on the left.

After 4 weeks.

After 5 weeks.

After 6 weeks. We have had a handful of cherry tomatoes this week.

Some close ups of the peppers. The peppers look great in the morning and wilt in the heat of the afternoon. It is possible that the small 2 gallon buckets are too small and either dry out or get too hot which is too much for the plants.

First full size tomato. Harvested it early to keep the mockingbirds from eating it.
