TODWICK    WOMENS’ INSTITUTE

Ladies are you looking for new interests and new friends, are you unsure about committing yourself every week? Then please come along and see what Todwick WI can offer.

 We meet on the first Thursday of the month at 7.15pm-9.45pm in Todwick village hall which is situated at the junction of Kiveton Lane and The Pastures and about 1.5 miles from the M1motorway/A57Junction 31.

We will certainly give you a warm welcome, speakers on a variety of interesting subjects and our many activities and outings may be just what you were looking for. We try to make sure our programme has something to please all our members and welcome new ideas for events in the future.

We get together socially with other institutes in the area and get to go to courses and visits arranged by our South Yorkshire Federation ,with its headquarters in Doncaster  having about 56 Institutes in its area

 We have our own superb residential college, Denman, in lovely grounds in Oxfordshire where we can attend courses on wine tasting, alternative therapies, languages, gardening, history and social studies, rambling ,cooking, music, drama, technology and many more.

 Over 205,000 ladies enjoy belonging to the WI and is the largest women’s organisation in the country, it is non sectarian and non political and plays a unique role in providing women with many educational opportunities.

The National Federation of Women’s Institutes (NFWI) headquarters are in London and are grouped into 70 Federations each with its own headquarters and staff. The National Federation hold the AGM in various large venues such as Cardiff, Manchester, and Sheffield Arenas and the Albert Hall. Topics for discussion have included SOS for Honey Bees, reduction of supermarket packaging, stopping the trafficking of women and children. Speakers at the national event have included Bill Bryson, Jane Fonda, Stuart Rose of M&S and the charming George Alagiah.

If you would like to give us a try you can come to our meetings as a visitor three times before making up your minds ,we all will endeavour to make you feel welcome and  at home .
