About Todd Oakley

 

After receiving his Ph.D. in Language, Rhetoric, and Writing from the English Department at University of Maryland, College Park in 1995, Todd Oakley was appointed Visiting Assistant Professor and Director of Writing Programs at York College in 1996. He came to Case Western Reserve University in 1997 as Assistant Professor of English and Director of Composition.

 

 His areas of specialization include cognitive science, linguistics, and rhetorical theory and criticism. His most recent research focuses on attention in language and other sign systems.

 

He is currently Associate Professor and Chair of Cognitive Science, Director of the MA Program in Cognitive Linguistics, and Co-Director of the Center for Cognition and Culture.
