Our Beginnings / Our Vision

It was three and a half decades ago when God began His work in Libis Espina, Caloocan City. It all started as a small Bible study group at the house of one Christian lady. This sister held on to the words, “The people who were sitting in darkness saw a great light, and to those who were sitting in the land and shadow of death, upon them a light dawned.” This verse burned in her heart that she gave God no rest until He established a strong Bible study group in the area.

The residents of Caloocan City lived in sin. But sooner, the Lord Jesus Christ brought people to Himself by saving them, and blessed that gathering such that after a few years it grew into a congregation known as “The Neighborhood Church” (TNC). Throughout the years, God has added in our midst “those who were being saved."

Presently, TNC has ffifty eight members. We also have with us an average of 80-90 regular attenders who worship with us every week. Truly, the Gospel of Jesus Christ is the power of God unto salvation to those who are being saved. Caloocan City is a haven of vices and sinful habits where the local government officials find it hard to put a stop. Social reforms without the Gospel are useless. With the preaching of the Gospel, changes are genuine. Their lives are changed inside out. God’s Word is like a two-edged sword piercing the soul. What a joy to see drug addicts now living a wholesome life!

Praise the Lord for broken marriages being restored. But our beloved city is densely populated. There are still many souls to be won, to be discipled, to be trained for godly living, and be trained to continue the work of the ministry. The apostle Paul said, “And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable men who will also be qualified to teach others.” Where to find faithful men is the ever present need of the hour. Besides we are no longer in the apostolic age. Changing times and the in-road of pluralistic modernism to society force us to evaluate our present philosophy of ministry and address the issue of “relevance.”
