CLA 2014 National Conference and Trade Show

Colleagues, collaboration and consultation will get us there.

 

In the spirit of “Building Bridges”, the organizers of TMC are working with CLA Voices for School Libraries Network and the Project Steering Committee for New Standards for School Library Learning Commons to integrate the 2 initiatives into one fabulous program for Canada’s school library community at CLA.

REGISTRATION

To ensure you are registered for the Treasure Mountain Canada School Library Program, you need to: 

  • Print the pdf at  www.cla.ca/conference/2014 and then scan/fax it to Wendy Walton, Conference & Events Manager, CLA. wwalton@cla.ca (fax) 613-563-9895
  • In Section Three, you will see “Friday -- School Library Program” $325 (includes HST)
  • The fee is the same for CLA members and non-members
  • Your fee of $325 includes ALL TMC program components on Thursday evening, Friday and Saturday morning.




Friday, May 30th

  • 9:00 – 11:30 - Symposium WorkLocation: Esquimalt Room
This year in Victoria marks the 3rd Treasure Mountain Canada Research Retreat. Research and scholarly papers, written over the 6 months prior to the conference, will form the core of the day-long working sessions. Participants will discuss, debate, and build their knowledge together – all focused this year on the implementation of the new National School Library Standards of Practice. The creation of new types of learning environments, learning strategies, and learning communities with the potential to propel the Library/Learning Commons into the centre of teaching and learning will emerge. Bring your iPads, laptops, and other mobile devices to work collaboratively.
  • 11:30 – 1:30 
    • Complimentary Lunch at the Exhibits and free-browsing time
    • Launch of the National School Library Standards of Practice in the Exhibits, with special invited guests and interested delegates
    • Announcement of the Angela Thacker Award
  • 1:30 – 5:00 - Symposium WorkLocation: Esquimalt Room          
  • 6:00 pm  
    • A local committee are organizing a self-funded dinner for participants who wish to join together for an evening of collegiality and further networking. Details will be sent to registered delegates in early May.
