Hey Lolly
Traditional, adapted by Eric Litwin and Michael Levine

Lyrics:

Hey Lolly, hey Lolly, hey Lolly, Lolly lo. (2x)

I know a girl – her name is Mia
Hey Lolly, Lolly lo.
She ate a quesadilla.
Hey Lolly, Lolly lo.

Hey Lolly, hey Lolly, hey Lolly, Lolly lo. (2x)

I know a boy whose name is Blake
Hey Lolly, Lolly lo.
He baked a chocolate cake.
Hey Lolly, Lolly lo.

Hey Lolly, hey Lolly, hey Lolly, Lolly lo. (4x)

Activities:

Sing-along:  Pat your lap to the beat and sing the song. Make up a rhyme for your child’s name for each verse.  If you have a group of people, it can be fun to take rhyme suggestions, or make up your own rhymes to go with each child’s name for each verse.

Egg Shaker song: Same as above, but shake eggs to the beat and sing the song.  For each chorus, shake your shaker on a different body part.

Birthday Song: Sing the song at your child’s birthday party.  Make up rhymes for each verse.  The first verse can rhyme with his/her first name (Mia/ quesadilla, Blake/ chocolate cake), the second verse can rhyme with boy/ girl (“Mia is the birthday girl/ she’s the cutest girl in the world” or “Blake is the birthday boy/ he’s gonna play with all his toys”), and the third verse can rhyme with his/her age (“Mia turns two today/ So let’s all say Happy Birthday!”).  Have fun making up new verses & rhymes!
