Timothy Higgins is a freelance trombonist in the Washington DC area.  He has transcribed works for the Northwestern Brass Ensemble, CT3 Trombone quartet, Skye Brass quintet, and the Washington Symphonic Brass.  As a performer, he has performed with the Chicago Symphony, Milwaukee Symphony, Virginia Symphony, Washington National Opera, and the National Symphony Orchestra.  At the 2005 ITF, Timothy won the Robert Marsteller solo trombone competition and the ITF Trombone Quartet Competition with CT3 Trombone Quartet (who performed his transcription of "Pictures at an Exhibition" during the final round).

A note about the transcriptions:

"Brass chamber music has seemed, for the most part, 'watered down' to me.  Because of this, I have taken it upon myself to offer new transcriptions that expand the parameters of the brass chamber ensemble.  Some of these transcriptions are very challenging for the individual as well as the ensemble.  Others are just great pieces that deserve to be studied and played by every  musician.  In either case, I hope to offer a new approach to 'what a brass ensemble can do'".
