This site was set up to record how climbing and hiking has helped to improve my cerebral palsy. Adventure therapy is what I call my climbing and hiking when I get a chance to do it full time. My adventure therapies consist of climbing, hiking, workout with weights and stretching for 30 to 40 hours a week. The climbing and hiking has shown to improve my balance, coordination, gate, as well as my strength and endurance. The stretching improves the range of motion and flexibility. Both before the second and third adventure therapies, I had BOTOX injections. These injections along with all the climbing, hiking and stretching have dramatically reduced the spasticity in my upper arm and leg.

My first adventure therapy was for 2 months back in the summer of 1999. Then I took 4 months in the summer of 2001. In September 2003 I started a one and a half year adventure therapy that ended in March 2005. All of the adventure therapies have all shown great improvements with my cerebral palsy. I have also noticed that the improvements from the adventure therapies are still with me.

I have traveled all over the Western, Southeastern USA and Banff Canada on my adventure therapies over the past few years.

I hope this helps to motivate others to reach for their dreams. I have always believed in going for my dreams, even when people said it wasn't possible. You never know what is possible until you try.
