As the Iron Hare 2138 Tibetan New Year draws near, I would like to wish all of you Happy Losar and Tashi Delek, and to offer my prayers for the fulfillment of all the aspirations of His Holiness the Dalai Lama and the Tibetan people.
During this new year we Tibetans will be participating in a very important democratic process in the form of elections of the Kalon Tripa and the members of the Tibetan Parliament. Tibetan Democracy has come a long way since His Holiness introduced it some 50 years ago. The amount of interest and enthusiasm shown by the Tibetan people in the current election cycle shows that democracy has taken strong roots.
I myself feel privileged to be able to be considered as a candidate for a parliamentary seat from North America. I am mindful of the responsibility that comes with the fact that the people we elect will be responsible in shaping the Tibetan destiny for the next five years.
I want to appeal to the voting public to exercise this sacred right on March 20 as irrespective of who you choose, you will be strengthening the hands of His Holiness and his vision for a strong and democratic Administration in Dharamsala.
Let us all take a stand to be proactive on Tibet as this is the time when our community needs us the most.
Have a wonderful and Happy Losar.
