Welcome to Ruiyuan's homepage

Hello

This is Ruiyuan Tian (田瑞源), and I am one of the post-80s generation born in Beijing, China. Currently, I am with NOKIA as a senior engineer in antenna technology team located at Espoo, Finland.

I received my Bachelor's degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Beijing Institute of Technology (BIT), China, 2005. In the degree project which won me an excellent thesis award, I carried out field measurements using a test-bed on WLAN ad-hoc networks. Since the summer of 2005, I became a student in Chalmers University of Technology (CTH), Sweden, and managed to obtain my M.Sc. degree within digital communication systems and technology in April, 2007. During August 2006 to March 2007, I worked as a guest researcher/intern in the Telecommunications Research Center (ftw), Vienna, Austria. There I also finished the research for my master's thesis which concerns clustering and tracking in MIMO radio channel modeling. From May 2007, I started as a PhD candidate with the radio systems and electromagnetic theory group, in the Dept. of Electrical and Information Technology, LTH, Lund University, Sweden. My doctoral dissertation is entitled "design and evaluation of compact multi-antennas for efficient MIMO communications". I successfully received my PhD degree after the public defense on Nov. 29, 2011. After that, I stayed in the same institution until April 2012, since which I joined NOKIA in Espoo, Finland. In NOKIA, I am part of the antenna technology team, responsible for cellular antenna technologies.

My current research interests include antenna concept, design and evaluation in mobile cellular technologies (LTE/MIMO antennas), antenna systems and propagation channel (antenna-channel modeling), radio access networks (cellular BS cooperation), communication signal processing aspects in radio systems (beamforming TX/RX), as well as statistical modeling, pattern recognition and machine learning topics.
