The National Science Foundation (NSF) is pleased to announce the Wireless Innovation for a Networked Society (NSF WINS) Challenges with up to $2 million in cash prizes. These competitions challenge the public to identify and demonstrate solutions to further wireless networks in two scenarios. The competitions are open to anyone based in the US. See the NSF Announcement for further details on these Challenges to make a more accessible Internet.

(1) The Off-the-Grid Internet Challenge aims to find wireless solutions for communication that can be rapidly deployed in post-disaster situations where Internet access is unavailable or compromised.

(2) The Smart Community Networks Challenge aims to find wireless solutions for communication that can be built on top of existing infrastructure to enhance Internet connectivity in communities that need greater access.
