Healing the World

The Baha’i Faith is about healing the world.  We believe that the one God of us all, no matter how we say His name, loves His creation so much that He tells us what we should do to heal ourselves as needed throughout the millennia of our history.  He also releases a certain spirit that quickens the souls of people to respond to His message.  He gives us his healing prescription through special people who lead exemplary lives themselves and teachings which are passed down and renewed from age to age.  Some of these teachings are also new and intended for the time and place where these special people appear: people like Jesus and Moses and Mohammed and Buddha and many others.  In the Baha’i Faith, we have two of these Prophets which fulfill prophecies of all the past holy books and Who have given us the best way to achieve peace and prosperity for a world civilization.  They are known to us as The Bab (meaning The Gate) and Baha’u’llah (meaning the Glory of God).

Baha’is also believe that we should look for the good in each other rather than faults or superficial differences.  We see that all people have souls and thus are worthy of respect.  All prejudices must be forgotten.  We are all in the same boat, figuratively speaking and must learn to get along in order to keep that boat from sinking.  This can only happen when essential stumbling blocks like racism and nationalism and all sorts of provincialism are put away.  Passions which have divided humanity in the past must give way to dispassionate consideration of the facts so that justice for all may be achieved.

Such unity can be achieved, Baha’is believe through the spiritual power which only religion can provide.  Other religions have done so in the past uniting warring tribes into a peaceful nation.  No other belief can be strong enough to overcome the forces of materialism which are causing so much turmoil and destruction in the world today.  All people are looking for a way to achieve real happiness in their lives. The Baha’i Faith offers a way to increase the love of family and friends and to expand their number simply by creating a new attitude toward our fellow human beings.

In its relatively short existence of 172 years, the Baha’i Religion has spread to every country of the world. Millions of people are Baha’is.  Its affairs are directed by elected members in every community where there are nine adult Baha’is. We are united in bringing this healing message to a world in dire need of the Divine Physician once more.  We happily share this message with our much beloved human family.  Blessings to all.
