Service Over Self (SOS)

Time commitment: Depending on the number of parent volunteers we get the time commitment could vary. If you are interested in receiving more information about helping with this program please sign up below.

Service Over Self is open to 5th grade students. It helps students to become active members in their school, community and world through a variety of experiences aimed at helping others. This program has been traditionally been organized by 5th grade parents with the assistance of one or more of the 5th Grade Teaching team. Students meet approximately once a month to organize events and programs to give back to their community. The number to meeting will depend on the number of parent volunteers we are able to get to help run the program.

Examples of projects S.O.S has coordinated in the past include:

  • Buddy Benches
  • Movie Night
  • Bingo Night
  • School Beautification
  • Raising money for Heroes for Haley
  • School Store
  • Used book sale to raise money for children over seas

The students take the lead in this program with the assistance of adults to guide them and encourage them to accomplish their goals.
