The Dartmouth Relays celebrated its 50th anniversary in January 2019. Thor’s Stone Athletic Club coach Carl Wallin helped create the event in 1969 and it is one of the biggest indoor track & field meets on the east coast!  The Dartmouth Relays has more than 2000 athletes competing at all levels over three days. The levels of competition include: high schoolers, collegians, masters, open and unattached individuals and youth in the Grafton County 1-lapper (9 and under).

Several members of the Thor's Stone Athletic Club participated in the shot put and weight throw. Club members had some very good results despite having little practice leading up to the event.

The Masters throwing began at 4:00 pm on Saturday with the shot put -the women and men-over-70 threw in separate rings. Each athlete had six throws. Valerie and Jane promptly achieved a new indoor personal record (PR). In the men’s ring Cal, Dave and Fred answered with their own PR. The second flight of men included Rich, Frank and Mustafa each
achieving a PR.

For the Masters the day of competition ended with the weight throw. The women throwers were followed by two flights of men. All Thor’s Stone members except Valerie - who came up 1/2 inch short - achieved a
new PR in the weight throw!

Other members of the club were there to cheer for their fellow teammates. It was fun for throwers and spectators to be part of the 50th anniversary of the Dartmouth Relays.
