The MRHS Golf Team has optional summer clinics held at Riverdale Golf Course on Monday and Tuesday evenings throughout the summer.

No registration is necessary these are "drop in" dates

Boys clinics begin at 5:30pm and end at 7:30pm.

Clinic Dates: 

June 5th Short Game/June 6th Full Swing

June 12th and 13th

June 26th and 27th

July 11th ONLY

July 17 and 18th

July 31st and August 1st 

Mondays: Short Game focus: Chipping and putting fundamentals and trouble shots (No Fee)

Tuesdays: Ball Striking 

Grip, Stance and Swing Fundamentals

($10 Fee for range balls per 2 hour session)

Attendance at summer sessions has no impact on placement in the program. These are an optional summer program to work on fundamental skills.


GOLF ONLY ATHLETIC CHECK IN: Wednesday and Thursday, July 27th and July 28th, MRHS Main Office.  7:30 am to 3pm.

2016 Tryout Schedule

August 7th, 9 hole evaluation at Hyland Hills, Blue Course. Players meet at the course at noon for team meeting tee times start at 1:30.

August 8th and 9th 

18 hole stroke play to determine V and JV positions.

Team composition:

5 Varsity positions

7 JV Positions

There will be a "C" team option available to sophomores and freshmen that do not qualify for V and JV positions.

Seniors must qualify in position 1-5 and make the varsity team to continue in the program.

"C" Level Schedule:

Invitational Matches will be 9-hole events on Wednesday afternoons starting August 16th-September 13th.

Players demonstrating an aptitude to play 18 hole matches may be eligible to play in JV level events listed above as well.


Season Practice Schedule:

V 3:30-5:30, JV 4-6, C level 5:30-7pm

Expectations:

Players have their own golf bag and clubs for trying out for the team.

Players have a general understanding on how to implement the rules of golf.

Players have experience walking a minimum of 9 holes and be prepared to walk 18 holes.

Players are allowed to use a push cart during play but they are not provided by the golf program.

 

Team Composition:

Varsity: 5 players that demonstrate an ability to compete in Front Range League Matches

 JV: 7 players that show an aptitude to grow their skills during the season.

  C Level: Players development program for freshmen and sophomore players that do not make V and JV spots.

 Players will be CHSAA certified and have the opportunity to "play  up"in the program as scores dictate.

 

Practices: C Level: will primarily practice at Hyland Hills during the week as they offer a variety of courses for teaching about the game. V and JV will be primarily at Riverdale GC. Practices are from 4 to 6pm during the school year and transportation to and from are the players/parents/guardian responsibility.


 Playing Expectations:

 

Varsity: 70s to mid 80s                          JV: mid 80s to 95                        C level: 100+

 

Player Expenses:

 

District Athletic Fee $150, Team Uniform: $100 (2 team polos and other team gear)=$250

 

Optional team spirit pack offered to players once they are on the team.

 

Player responsibilities:

Athletic paperwork and proof of current physical on file with the athletic secretary prior to tryouts.

District athletic fee paid

Team uniform fee paid by August 22nd

 

Team golf bag to be cared for during the season and returned at end of season 

(replacement cost of golf bag $100)

 

Academic Eligibility: CHSAA 2 F’s on last semester are ineligible for Fall Sports and during the season a single F precludes a player from traveling. Please read and review school handbook for absence policies due to competing in high school golf.
