Thomas Devie is a Bass (Electric and Upright) and Keyboard player who plays also Shinobue (Japanese Bamboos Flute) and Bağlama (Turkish Lute)
He graduated in 2002 at the Music Conservatory of Lyon (France), the place where he was born and grows up. Thomas is now living in Germany, working as Musician and teaching his Instruments.

In the last years, he had the chance to extend his Music Vocabulary thru Collaborations with Musician of western but also Non-Western Culture Background:
Indeed Since 2017 he also plays the Japanese Bamboo Flute "Shinobue" that he has learned Japanese Masters Ai Suenaga in Japan as well as Yuko Kojima in Germany. Because of the flexibility of this Instrument witch has been customized to fit to the Japanese Scales as well as the European ones, it becomes part of his "own sound" and can be hear in Projects like "Utanouki"
Probably because its migration History, Germany was also the place where Thomas discovered and practiced intensively the Turkish Lute "Baglama". He's been first taking lessons with the Book-Author from "Baglama Methode" Özgur Ersoy and finally did an Advance Training "Lehrgang Baglama" at University of Music and Dance of Cologne in 2016-2017.
Next to his activity as Musician, Thomas Devie is teaching Piano, Keyboard and Bass in North Rhine Westphalia. Since 2020 he is also giving Computer Music Production Workshops at the Music School of Haan
He studies and get graduated in 2002 at the Conservatory of Lyon after studying at the "ENM Ecole Natinale de Musique" of Villeurbanne et Chambery.
Learning and performing Non-Western Music: From 2012 Thomas start learning the Turkish Lute "Baglama" and graduate in 2017 at The University of Music and Dance of Cologne (Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln ) with a Baglama Certificate (Zertifikatslehrgang Baglama).
From 2017 he start to play the japanese Bambu Flute "Shinobue" He has learned in Germany with Yuko Kojima and in Japan with Ai Suenaga.
Professional Experience "abroad". After studying Thomas has Musical Engagement in London, New York, Paris and Berlin. Finally he establish himself in West-Germany (Düsseldorf).
First Live Experiences: Starting to learn Bass in the local Music School at the Age of 14 and performs after a few month later with a Jazz Guitar Ensemble of the School. Following his teacher's Advice he learns about Jazz Harmony and Improvisation.
The Beginning and first composition: Starting private Keyboard lessons at 9. Soon after learning the Basics of Harmony and Music-Reading. Thomas produce is first tunes with Computer and Synthesizer supported by his Teacher.
