Competitive Events

Competing in DECA is a tremendous opportunity for you to develop and apply your skills and knowledge in the field of marketing. We encourage ALL of our chapter members to compete, even if just for the experience. Below is a breakdown of the competitive events opportunities that you have this year. Talk to Mrs. Briggs North to sign-up for a competitive event.

Georgia Only Testing Events:

  • The top 10 scores in each event will earn a slot to 2020 ICDC in Nashville
  • Tests are taken here at school with a proctor
  • Online testing September 21-27
  • All DECA members will take a test - pick your category!

Regional Competitive Events:

  • Typically top 3 to 4 winners in each event will move on to compete at State CDC at the end of February
  • At regionals, compete against other schools in our region - Troup, Carroll, Chattahoochee, Coweta, Douglas, Harrison, Harris, Heard, Marion, Meriwether, Muscogee, Stewart, Talbot, Taylor, and Webster County
  • Events will participate in online testing November 13-15
  • Role plays occur at Regional Competition on Friday, December 7 at Columbus State University

State Career Development Conference:

  • Winners from regional competition will go on to compete at the state level in that event (they are not listed again below)
  • Events will participate in online testing January 8-11
  • Role plays and presentations will occur at State CDC February 14-16
  • Typically top 6 winners in each event will move on to compete at ICDC in April
  • Business Speech, Job Interview, and Marketing Decision Making are Georgia only events and winners will earn a slot in a leadership academy at ICDC
