Carne Colorada

Adapted from

1-1/2 pounds Stewing Beef
1/2 bottle beer
4 cloves garlic
1 teaspoon Turmeric (Original Recipe calls for 1 T.Achiote) 2 tablespoon fresh Cilantro
1 teaspoon Oregano
1 teaspoon Cumin
1 small red onion
2 tablespoons olive oil
White rice
Homemade Tortillas.

Place the beer, garlic, onion, cilantro, turmeric,(or Achiote),
oregano, cumin in a blender and puree into a thick sauce.
Season beef with salt and pepper.  Brown the beef cubes in hot oil, a
few pieces at a time.  When all the meat has been browned add all the
meat back into the pot and add  the pureed sauce.  Add about a cup of
beef broth.  Cover and simmer until beef is tender.  Check for
seasoning and add more salt and pepper if needed.

Serve with homemade corn tortillas and rice  garnished with sliced red
onions,cilantro,  avocado , homemade salsa etc..
