Kreischer Mansion

On a tall hill, overlooking Arthur Kill Road stands the extremely
ornate and handsomely detailed two and one-half story Kreischer
Mansion.  This impressive Victorian, stick-style, frame-construction
residence, designed in 1880, is dominated by a three-story polygonal
tower on one corner, a balcony on the top floor, and a veranda that
partially encircles the mansion.  The uppermost story of the tower is
open and boasts a handsome series of arches with brackets supporting
the cornice of the polygonal roof above.

The New York City Landmarks Preservation Commission has recognized the
unique character, and special historic and aesthetic value of the
Kreischer Mansion.  The Commission further appreciates that the
mansion stands as a memorial to Balthazar Kreischer, a man who played
an important role in the industrial expansion of Staten Island and
who, in addition to the industrial development of Kreischerville,
promoted the social welfare and advancement of the community.

The Kreischer Mansion is  is located in Staten Island, NY near the Outer Bridge Crossing, off Richmond PKWY / Veterans Road (HWY 440 South)
