Class Descriptions - The Yoga Studio of Blackstone River Valley

Levels:
  •  Level 1: easy yoga, slow pace (new beginners welcome)
  •  Level 2 (All level): easy to moderate yoga, slow to moderate pace (new beginners may join with instructor permission)
  •  Level 2/3: moderate yoga, moderate to vigorous pace

 Flow & Tone:  (level 2/3)  A wide variety of yoga poses and posture flows (sun salutations).  Emphasis on toning & strengthening with longer holding times and repetitions.   Energizing & rejuvenating.  A great way to start the day! 

 Afternoon Yoga: (level 2 – All) Gentle stretching and classic yoga poses.  Emphasis on weight-bearing poses to enhance strength and bone density.

" Moving into a Restful Evening"/Flow & Yin: (level 2 – All):  A wide variety of yoga poses and posture flows (sun salutations).  A class to help you transition into a restful evening.  Emphasis on poses to release tension and rebalance/calm the central nervous system. 

 Wednesday AM Moderate (level 2 – All):  A popular all level class to give students the full benefits of a regular Yoga practice.  A wide variety of yoga poses, including gentle warm-ups, breathwork, and relaxation exercises.

 Vinyasa (level 2/3):  A moderate to vigorously paced class.  Emphasis on posture flows (sun salutations), usually to music.  Students are given time at the end of each class for individual work on postures suited to their level.
 
Kundalini Yoga (level 2):  An energy-focused practice; each class will include breath work, a physical yoga posture set, deep relaxation and a meditation.  Kundalini is the yoga of awareness as taught by Yogi Bhajan.
 
 Intro to Kripalu Yoga (level 1): Basic alignment principles, yoga poses, and breathwork which will provide the foundation for a continuing yoga practice.  Learn how to safely hold poses with ease and confidence, how to use props, and how to use the breath to enhance the practice.  This is a 1 hour 30 minute class.
 
Intro to Kripalu Yoga: The Deeper Practices (level 2 - All):  Not just for beginners, this class will dive into the art of stage 3 Kripalu Yoga, teaching students how to blend movement, breath, and meditation.  This class can be taken after Intro to Kripalu Yoga or as a supplement at any time to your on-going Yoga practice.

 Wake-Up Yoga (level 1):  A variety of simple yoga poses, including gentle warm-ups, hip & shoulder openers and breathwork.  Emphasis is on floor work.   Meditation at the end of class.  This is a one hour class.

 Saturday All Level (level 2 - All):   A popular all level class to give students the full benefits of a regular Yoga practice.  A wide variety of yoga poses, including posture flows (sun salutations), usually to music.  Students are encouraged to work at their own pace/level.  Deep relaxation at the end of class.
