Nietzsche was asked this question. He wrote because he must.
Anais Nin believed writers write what others cannot say.
Plath believed it took guts to write the truth.
Wordsworth believed you filled your paper with your heart.
Nabokov believed the story is always there for the writer to write.
Byron needed to write to keep his sanity.
Kafka believed writing was a way in toward oneself.
I am no great writer. I write for a mundane reason.
It's the only way I know to bleed.
