The Village Band of Chapel Hill / Carrboro, North Carolina is a non-profit community concert band committed to providing our members an opportunity for life-long musical expression, promoting music in the lives of all we meet, and providing cultural enrichment in our community.   We are currently comprised of about 60 members from their teens to their 90s, including high school and university students, professionals, and retirees.

The band has a long history of providing musical entertainment at such venues as the Carrboro Town Center, the Horace Williams House, the VFW, Pullen Park in Raleigh, University Mall,  Southern Village, and retirement communities such as Carolina Meadows and Carol Woods.  Its repertoire ranges from classic community band music (marches and military/patriotic music, classic and contemporary pieces specifically for band), reductions of orchestral and opera pieces by Bach, Holst, Handel, Frescobaldi, et al., and show tunes and holiday music.

The members of the Village Band are dedicated to bringing quality performances of a broad range of music to diverse venues in Chapel Hill, Carrboro, and nearby communities; and they simply love playing for audiences of all types and all ages.

Any interested musician (regardless of skill level) is welcome to attend rehearsals Monday nights 7:30 to 9:00 at East Chapel Hill High School.  See About Us for more details.

If you are organizing an event and would like The Village Band to perform for your audience, please contact our Band Manager, Charles Porter.
