Victorian fretwork

The Victorians believed in the exhuberance of ornamentation. With the development of new milling techniques and saws it was possible to order Fretwork from catalogs. From small cottages to grand mansions. Victorians embraced it and applied it around staircases and between doorways.

Presented here are some examples of this Victorian artform. As well as some new examples based on original designs. DO YOU HAVE FRETWORK in your home? We'd love to share it with others. All photos must be yours. Please send tehm to victiques@hotmail.com and we will share them here   .
