Mezzo-soprano/Actress Claudette Hatcher performs frequently throughout the greater Seattle area, and recently, internationally. While she thoroughly enjoys opera, Claudette has been seen often in musicals and dramas, mainly Shakespeare. She has also appeared in independent and short films.
10/28/19 - Claudette Hatcher is a recipient of three awards for Porgy and Bess - Olivier Award for Outstanding Achievement in Opera and South Bank Sky Opera Award and now the Black British Theatre Award for Best Opera Production!
7/1/18 - The English National Opera and Dutch National Opera have invited Claudette Hatcher to join their joint production with the Metropolitan Opera of Porgy and Bess. Claudette will also be signing in the War Requiem with ENO. Tickets on sale at ENO.org - Porgy and Bess opens 11 Oct, 2018 and War Requiem opens 16 Nov, 2018. 8/27/18 - After a hiatus, Claudette Hatcher returned to the stage with Seattle Opera's new production of Porgy and Bess, August 11-25, 2018. Claudette joined a stellar ensemble including a Grammy award singer and other profession opera and musical theater singers, singing the solo "Professor Jesus".
8/18/12 – Claudette Hatcher returned to Seattle Opera to sing in ensemble of Puccini's Turandot, Aug 4-18, 2012.
4/1/12 – Claudette Hatcher returned to Tacoma Musical Playhouse for third time as Church Lady Darlene in the regional premiere production of The Color Purple which ran March 9 – April 1st, Friday and Saturday at 8pm, Sunday at 2pm.
12/16/11 – Invited by Cyndi Thompson, director of Shakespeare in the Parking Lot’s Henry IV, Claudette Hatcher debuted with Redmond’s Redwood Theatre in their production of Never Too Late. Claudette played the comedic role of Foley the Plumber and Policewoman. The show ran February 10-25th, Friday and Saturday at 8pm, Sunday at 2pm, with a preview on February 9th and an Artist Benefit Night on February 11th.
9/14/11 – Claudette Hatcher debuted with the Seattle Opera in their summer production of Porgy and Bess in the chorus with an Alto Solo part. See the video of rehearsals. Porgy and Bess ran July 30, 2011 and runs Aug 3, 6, 10, 11, 12, 14 (matinee), 19, 20, 2011.
