Error Codes

This comprehensive list of Wii error codes will guide you when your console is
giving you a hard time.

Error Code 32003:
The Wii console was unable to receive an update from Nintendo, due to a
technical issue with the servers. Please try again later.

Either the Nintendo Servers are overloaded or temporarily down for
maintenance.

If the error keeps coming up after waiting for a while, make sure you have
no interference from other wireless network and try adjusting the
"Channel" your wireless router broadcasts on. Recommended channel
settings are: 1, 6 or 11 since these channels doesn’t interfere with each
other. However, channel 6 is the default on many routers and therefore
most likely to interfere with other networks.

Error Code 32003:

Your Wii Console’s internal memory is full and your trying to install a new
update. Delete files or transfer items to a compatible SD card.

Error Code 32004, 32030:
Problem related to connecting Wii to internet. It could be a weak singal or

If you use Nintendo Wi-Fi USB Connector

Check if your PC have any security programs (firewall, anti-virus, antispyware,
anti-adware, etc.) installed? If you are using the Nintendo Wi-Fi
USB Connector, and have a software firewall or other computer security
program installed on your computer, there may be additional steps you
must complete to allow a successful connection.

"Trusted" Applications:
If your firewall or PC security program keeps a list of trusted applications
(also known as a "trusted zone"), the following programs are installed
with the Nintendo Wi-Fi USB Connector, and require internet
communications. If prompted by your firewall or PC security program, add
these to the list of trusted applications. This information may also apply to
certain computer security applications, such as anti-virus, anti-spyware,
etc.:

Error code 50100 - 50199:
The Wii console was unable to detect a connection to the internet. Please
read the following troubleshooting.
 
Ensure your home internet connection is working properly by using your
home computer and visiting a website (such as www.nintendo.com) and
ensure the page loads correctly.
 
Verify that your home network is setup correctly. For instance, ensure
that your broadband modem is connected directly to your router, and not
your computer. For information on setting up a home network, check out

owner manual or contact your Internet Service Provider.

Error Code 50200 – 50299:
The Wii console's internet connection settings have not been configured
yet. In order for the Wii console to connect online, you must first go
through a quick setup process to connect to your home network. Check

Error code 50300-50399:
The Wii console's internet connection settings are not correct. This could
include such things as your network's SSID (name), WEP or WPA keys, or
any manual settings you may have entered.

Error Code 50400 – 50499:
The Wii LAN Adapter has not been properly installed.
 
Try disconnect and connect your Wii Lan adapter again.
 
If you are not attempting to use the Wii LAN Adapter, check to make sure
you have not selected "Wired" as the connection type in the Wii console's
internet connection settings. If you have selected "Wired," erase that
connection setting and start over, being sure to select "Wireless" or
"Nintendo Wi-Fi USB Connetor.".
 
Error Code 51000 – 51009 , 51130 , 52030, 52100-52199:
Network Error:

Check that your router is compatible with Nintendo Wii Wifi. These Belkin
routers have been confirmed to be incompatible: F5D6231-4 vers.1000m
FSD7230-4 vers.4000, F5D8233-4 vers. 1022. Some Comcast router
users have also reported to have problems. However the latest firmware
updates might correct all these problems. Always make sure you have
upgraded your router with the latest firmware.
 
Verify that the proper Connection File (1, 2, or 3) is selected in the Wii
System Settings. If you have multiple connection files setup, and you
have recently received a system update, it is possible that the update has
caused the Wii console to select a different Connection File.
 
Make sure that your network’s name (SSID) matches exactly to what you
have entered in the Wii console's settings.
 
Log in to your router using a web browser and typing in the router’s
default IP (consult the router’s owner’s manual for assistance).
Look for the section for SSID (usually found in the wireless settings area).
After you find the SSID (network name), verify in the Internet Settings of
your Wii console that the SSID is appearing exactly as listed in your
router. This includes making sure that capitalization, spaces, or special
characters match.
 
Wii Error Code 51030
The only wireless network within range of your Wii console is not configured or is
not compatible with the Wii.
 
Check to see if the router you are using is a known to be incompatible. Check if
the router is working by connecting to internet with another wifi PC or device.
Make sure that the SSID (network name) matches exactly to what you have
entered in the Wii console's settings.
 
Error Code 51300 – 51399:
The Wii console is not able to connect to the access point.

Try changing the "Channel" your wireless router is set on. Recommended
channel setting: 1, 6 or 11. However, channel 6 is the default on many

Is your router using MAC filtering:

Browse to the router’s default IP using a web browser.
Find the MAC Filtering setting (usually under Security)
If Mac Filtering is enabled, either disable it or enter the Wii console’s MAC
address in the list of approved MAC addresses.
 
The MAC address of the Wii can be found by:
From the Wii Channel menu, select "Wii Settings" (the round button on
the bottom-left).

Select "Internet," then "Console Settings."
The MAC address of the Wii console is displayed on the first line.
 
Error code 51340 – 51342:
The Wii console is not able to connect to Nintendo Wi-Fi USB Connector.
Try uninstalling the Nintendo Wi-FI USB Connector software, and reinstall.
Does your PC have any security programs (firewall, anti-virus, antispyware,
anti-adware, etc.) installed? If you are using the Nintendo Wi-Fi
USB Connector, and have a software firewall or other computer security

If you are still receiving this error code, it is likely that the Nintendo Wi-Fi
USB Connector is not compatible with your current home network.
It is also possible that your Internet Service Provider (ISP) is not
compatible with the Wii console. For instance, if you need to login with a
user name and password when you try to go online for the first time after
restrarting your PC, your ISP is likely not compatible. Please contact your
service provider for more information.
 
If you are still receiving this error code, it is likely that the Nintendo Wi-Fi
USB Connector is not compatible with your current home network.
 
Error Code 52100 - 52199:

Try a Manual Setup with the Wii console, using your network's IP
configuration settings. To access these settings:
 
On your PC, click "Start" and then "Run."
Type "CMD" into the field that appears to open a new window.
Type "IPCONFIG/ALL" and press "Enter" to display a list of internet
settings.
 
Create a manual wireless connection in the Wii console and enter a IP
address in the same network (not the same as your PC, if your PC have
192.168.1.100 you might choose 192.168.1.150) and then the same
netmask, gateway and DNS as the PC.
 
Power cycle your router by turning it off or unplugging it compleately.
Wait a few minutes, and turn it on again. Try to connect the Wii console
online and test the connection.
 
Error code 52230 – 52232:
There appears to be an issue with your wireless router's firewall.
Your wii has internet connection but cannot connect to the Nintendo
servers. Check your firewall settings so it is not blocking the traffic

the proxy. Check with your provider.
 
Check that ssid isn’t hidden in your router’s wireless settings
America Online (AOL) broadband users may experience difficulties when
attempting to connect to the Internet using the Wii console system. Please
contact America Online for assistance.
 
Are you using a Netgear brand wireless router? Disabling the "SPI
Firewall" of the router may help the connection. The "SPI Firewall" option
is typically found under the "WAN Setup" tab of the router's settings.
 
Error code 52240 – 52242:
This error code usually indicates that the Wii console was able to connect
to the Nintendo Wi-Fi USB Connector, but is blocked from reaching the
appropriate server(s).
 
It's possible that anti-virus, anti-Spyware, or firewall software is preventing a
successful online connection. Try temporarily disabling programs like Zone Alarm
or Norton Security too see if that’s the problem.
 
Also try unplugging the router, wait a couple of seconds then plug it in
again.
 
Error code 52400 – 52699:
The Wii console might not able to connect to your Proxy server. (Proxy
servers are typically found in areas that have many internet connections,
such as office buildings, dormitories, etc.). Check your proxy username
and password or contact your network administrator for information on
connecting to the network's proxy server. A manual setup of the Wii
console's internet settings may be necessary.

Error code 52730 – 52732:
This error message typically occurs when another device in your network
is using the same IP address of the Wii console.
 
Try manually assigning an IP address to your Wii console.
 
The first thing you'll need to do is find out what IP address range you
should be using. To do this:
 
Click the "Start" button in the lower left-hand corner of your PC.
1. Click "Run."
2. Type "cmd" into the box and press Enter.
3. Type "IPCONFIG/ALL" and press Enter. The IP address of
the PC will be displayed.
4. The IP address you are going to assign to the Nintendo
Wii must be at least 10 digits higher than the PC's. (e.g.,
192.168.1.100 becomes 192.168.1.110).
5. Write down the Subnet Mask, Default Gateway, Primary
DNS and Secondary DNS.
6. Using this information to manually assign a static IP
address to your Wii Console.
 
Error code 54000 – 54099:
The Wii console was disconnected from the internet.
Try restarting your router and ensure your home internet connection is
working properly by using your home computer and visiting a website
(such as www.nintendo.com) and ensure the page loads correctly.
 
Verify that your home network is setup correctly. Check that your
broadband modem is connected directly to your router, and not your

Internet Service Provider.
 
Error code 61000 - 61070:
This is usually a temporary problem with the Nintendo Wi-Fi connection.
Wait a few hours and retry the connection later. The reason might be that
the Nintendo Servers have a heavy traffic load on their servers for the
moment.
 
If it doesn’t help, call Nintendo for more support at (800) 255-3700.
 
Error code 86070 :
This problem can occur if you temporary lose connection with Nintendo
servers.
 
Wait a few hours and retry the connection later. The reason might be that
the Nintendo Servers have a heavy traffic load on their servers for the
moment.
 
If the problem persists call Nintendo for more support at (800) 255-3700.
 
Error code 107310:
Problem related to Forecast channel. Memory that Forest Channel uses is
corrupt. Either send the console to Nintendo or reformat the unit’s internal
memory.
 
Error code: 109107
If parental settings are set to “forbid” the WiiConnect24 service is blocked.
 
Error code 110210 - 110213:
Wii Connect 24 error.
 
Although the Wii console continue to operate for normal game play, these
online connection errors cannot be fixed without having your Wii console
serviced. There is a problem with the Wii Connect 24 service. Try again
later, if the problem is the same call Nintendo at (800) 255-3700
 
Error code 200800-200810:
Problem connecting to the Wii Shop channel.
 
Either a problem with the router or the Wii Shop may be temporarily
down. Try again later.
 
Error code 204038:
There appears to be an issue connecting to the Internet/Wii Shop
Channel. There are a couple of reasons why this might occur.

Wireless interference can cause this error code to appear. Try moving the
router to another location, away from walls or metal. Turn of any devices
that might interfere.
 
There could also be a temporary network issue with Nintendo's servers.
Please wait a few hours and try to access the Internet Channel again.

Error code 205645, 205906:
There appears to be an issue with your Wii Shop account. Please call
Nintendo at 1-800-255-3700 so they may assist you.
 
Error code 205926 – 205928:
Although the console continue to operate for normal game play, these
online connection errors cannot be fixed without having your Wii console
serviced. Please call Nintendo at 1-800-255-3700 so they may assist you.
 
Error code 206401:
Invalid My Nintendo user name or Password.
 
Verify that you have entered the information correctly.
 
Make sure you are using non-alphanumeric characters.
 
Error code 206673:
There appears to be an issue with your Wii Shop account. Please call
Nintendo at 1-800-255-3700 so they may assist you.
 
Error code 208000:
It appears you did not properly enter your county (not "country") while
attempting to download items from the Wii's online service. Please try
again.
 
Error code 208001:
Residents of the U.S. or Canada, please call 1-800-255-3700 for
assistance.
 
Residents of Latin America, please call 1-425-558-7078.
 
Error code 208002:
There appears to be a problem with the billing address you have entered
for the credit card.
 
Try re-entering your billing information.
 
There could also be an issue with Nintendo's servers. Try waiting a few
hours and try again later
 
Error code 208003:
It appears that the credit or debit card number you have entered does not
match the type of card you have indicated you are using. Please note that
Visa and MasterCard are the only card types accepted by the Wii's online
service.
 
Verify you are entering the number of a Visa or a MasterCard, and that
you have properly selected the card type during the entry process.
 
Contact your card's issuer for further assistance.
 
Error code 208004:
It appears that the three-digit (3) security code on the back of your card
is not valid.
 
Verify the code on the back of the card and re-enter. Please see the
illustration below for locating the three-digit security code.

Error code 2008005:
It appears that the card number or expiration date you have entered is
invalid.
 
Verify and re-enter the card number or expiration date, and ensure they
are entered correctly.

Error code 208006:
It appears that the card number you have entered is invalid.

Verify and re-enter the card number, and ensure it is entered correctly.

It appears that the expiration date you have entered is invalid.
 
Verify the card's expiration date, and ensure it is entered correctly.

It appears that the postal code you have entered is invalid.
 
Verify the postal code and country, and ensure it is entered correctly.

Error code 208009:
Nintendo is experiencing temporary server issues, which are preventing
your card information from being validated.
 
Please wait a few hours and try again.
 
Error code 208010:
Nintendo is experiencing temporary server issues, which are preventing
your card information from being validated.

Error code 208011 – 208013:
It appears the card you are using was declined.
 
Please contact the card's issuer for further assistance.
 
Error code 208014:
It appears the card you are using has expired.
 
Please contact the card's issuer for further assistance or to obtain a
replacement.
 
Error code 208015:
It appears the card you are using was declined.

Error code 208016:
It appears that the card number you have entered is invalid.
 
Verify and re-enter the card number, and ensure it is entered correctly.

Error code 208017:

Error code208018:
It appears that the card number you have entered is invalid.

Error code 208019:
It appears that the zip or postal code you have entered is invalid.
Verify the zip or postal code you are entering is correct, and try again.
Contact your card's issuer (e.g., your bank) and make sure the zip or
postal code you are entering is the correct one for the card's billing
address.
 
Error code 209576, 209600-209601:
This Error Code usually indicates that the console timed out when
attempting to communicate with Nintendo's servers.
 
If you are connectiong with a wireless Router:
 
Make sure you are using a "broadband" internet connection, such as high
speed cable or DSL. Slower connection types, such as dial-up, may not
work properly with the Wii console. If you are unsure what type of
connection you have, please contact your Internet Service Provider (ISP)

Try changing the "Channel" your wireless router is set on. Recommended
channel setting: 1, 6 or 11. However, channel 6 is the default on many
routers and therefore most likely to interfere with other networks. Use a
tool like Netstumber to check for other networks in the area and choose a
channel as far from the others as possible. This can potentially increase
the download speed. The "Channel" setting is typically found in the
"Wireless" section of your router's setup utility. See the Ultimate Wii Guide
for a step-by-step guide on setting up your router.
 
If adjusting the "Channel" did not work, try to move the router closer to
your Wii to gain a stronger connection and try again. Also think about the
placement of the router. Keep it in a central position and high up from the
floor and avoid positioning it close to microwave ovens and thick walls.
Also try to turn off any devices that might interfere, such as cell phones,
wireless keyboards and mice.
 
If this error occurs regularly, it is may be a connection problem related to
the firewall settings of your wireless router. Try temporarily disabling the
wireless security on the router.
 
If you have aNetgear wireless router try disabling the "SPI Firewall"
setting under “WAN Setup” of the router’s setup.
 
Also check your DNS settings in your wii. Try setting the IP & DNS
manually.
 
Error code 209826:
Problem connecting to the Wii Shop channel.
 
Either a problem with the router or the Wii Shop may be temporarily
down. Try again later.
 
Error code 220602:
There appears to be an issue with the DNS server your Wii is receiving.
 
Try a Manual Setup with the Wii console, using your network's DNS
information. To access the DNS settings:
 
On your PC, click "Start" and then "Run."
Type "CMD" into the field that appears to open a new window.
Type "IPCONFIG/ALL" and press "Enter" to display a list of internet
settings, including the "DNS" settings. Input these into the "Manual Setup"
of the Wii console's internet connection.
 
Check your router configuration so outgoing DNS traffic is allowed.
