Impersonal sex in public places
The Tearoom Sex Study was a research experiment conducted by Laud Humphreys. This research experiment took place in the United States during the mid to late 1960s. Humphreys' study focused on the backgrounds, motives and dispositions of men that engaged in sexual encounters in public restrooms. The research showed that men who willingly participated in the "tearoom trade" came from various different backgrounds, and did not follow societal stereotypes. To this day, the Tearoom Sex Study is still reviewed and talked about; this is due to the very controversial research practices Humphreys used to collect his data. The Tearoom Sexy Study is still used as an example of unethical research.
