Whenever you have eliminated the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth

One Young Leader Conquers the Heights

Twilight Empire: Truth and Myth

Although many are reluctant to admit it, the Twilight Empire has now grown to be a very large and strong community within the Alliance. Many leaders of certain veteran orders were sure that the young and, at first, inexperienced Lady Aerana was a 'joke that could not go beyond making a pompous speech somewhere in an overcrowded place'. But the enthusiastic and energetic woman would soon rise to be a powerful and confident leader of the Twilight Empire that has now grown to increasingly impressive sizes at which the rest of the community can no longer ignore its presence.

Increasing amount of rumors, myths, and debates now surround this society which has been proclaimed by some politicians as "the most controversial guild in history".

Our team has set itself a goal of sorting the truth and the myth once and for all. I was greeted by Empress Aerana Dantay this July, who has generously agreed to the interview with The Stormwind Times.

Rumor #1: The Twilight Empire is a cult related to the Twilight Hammer. The Empire seeks to destroy Alliance and to bring chaos into it resulting in the Empire becoming the one and only institution of government.

TE Claims #1:  While I can certainly understand how this rumor could have come about, considering the similarity in the –names- between the two organizations, anyone who has remotely studied the tenets of the Twilight Empire would know that our aims put us quite at odds with the Twilight Hammer. Indeed, many of the Empire have hunted and fought against those of the Twilight Hammer and their ideals. Additionally, the Empire would never seek to destroy the Alliance, for we consider ourselves loyal members of the faction and, in fact, do whatever is in our power to aid the Alliance. Our passion for furthering the Alliance can be seen in our efforts to help our fellow allies in their travels and trials.

Rumor #2: The Twilight Empire has signed a non-agression pact with the Horde and are exchanging information with them which is considered to be High Treason because the Alliance and the Horde are at war.

TE Claims #2: While the Twilight Empire does indeed seek non-hostile relations with the Horde, we would never exchange information with the Horde that might endanger our fellow Allies. The peace we seek is for the benefit of both factions, in light of the bigger threat that we face. While past hatred cannot be minimized, the Empire believes that small steps towards peace play an integral role in the future survival and prosperity of both factions. Thus we are willing to take those steps should we find orders in the Horde faction that also follow the same vision. Do not mistake our quest for peace as weakness, however. We still gird ourselves for war, for we are not blind to the harsh realities of this world. To some it may not make sense; to us, it is a balance.

Rumor #3: The Twilight Empire is the top institution in the secret Horde operation and is supplying the enemy with intelligence needed to attack our territories.

TE Claims #3: -She chuckles softly, shaking her head.- No, the Twilight Empire is not an institution of the Horde. We were founded in the chaos that resulted from the most recent war by a group of visionaries seeking refuge in the outlying areas of Elwynn. Indeed, our road is difficult with both factions for there are few people that walk the unpopular road of peace. It is a balance that we seek to maintain and while we are maligned by some for it, we have faith that our vision for the future will continue to draw support from individuals in both factions. Even a small step towards peace is a step in the right direction.

Rumor #4: The Twilight Empire is a self-proclaimed separatist state that is challenging the currently existing Alliance realms.

TE Claims #4: This rumor is indeed interesting, for we of the Empire believe ourselves to hold true to a vision that few others hold. However, when one agrees to stand beneath the banner of Twilight, one’s origins are not forgotten. The Twilight Empire respects and acknowledges the ruling governments of Alliance realms, for we have no qualm with them. As an Empire, our territory is not measured out in land or resources, but rather it lies in the heart of those who stand loyal. The ideals of Twilight span nations, religions, and races.

Rumor #5: The Twilight Empire is here to challenge the authority of the Holy Church of Light.

TE Claims #5: As stated previously, the tenets of the Empire are not based on one’s religion. We have many loyal followers of the Light, Elune, the Naaru, and others within the Empire. These individuals’ beliefs are not maligned, for the Empire holds no quarrel with the one’s religion. We have no intention of ever challenging the authority of Holy Church of the Light.

Frequently Asked Questions:

1. Why is it called the Twilight Empire?

~We are called the Twilight Empire for a myriad of reasons, some of which I shall explain here. Foremost, we do not bind ourselves in the conventional sense – hence we span all of Azeroth and Draenor, as the twilight does. Our name also references the dark times in which we live and our stance to keep the darkness at bay.

2. What is your goal?

~We are a closely-knit band of visionaries who hold the hope for a future of peace. Perhaps that peace will not come during our lifetimes, but each step we make now will be felt by the future generations. We seek, step by step, to build reputable relations with both Alliance and Horde factions that hold our same vision. In a more immediate sense, we seek to provide a foundation for our members to ground themselves in as they journey through the world. The Empire has grown in size as time has passed, but we’ve also grown closer to each other and more dedicated to the ideals we share.

3. Are you hostile towards Alliance?

~Absolutely not. In fact, we are always eager to help and strengthen the bonds of the Alliance in any ways that we might be able to do so.

4. Are you friendly towards Horde?

~The question may carry negative connotations, however we are not afraid to share what we stand for. We are not naïve in these war torn times, but neither will we allow ourselves to be jaded by the wars that surround us. Twilight’s official policy is to promote peace if possible and thus we may seem more friendly towards the Horde than many of the Alliance are comfortable with. In these times, a friendly gesture can go far in helping to alleviate the constant shroud of hatred that envelops both factions. It is a difficult balance to maintain, but we are not afraid of the path before us.

5. Are you a religion?

~While there are some who have taken up the banner of Twilight with almost a religious fervor, the Empire does not consider itself a religion. We warmly welcome those who embrace the Light, Elune, and others. Indeed, many of our most respected and honored members are staunch followers of the aforementioned deities and we are privileged to have them stand with us beneath the banner of Twilight.

The Twilight Empire controversy has reached its height June 9, when a group of 16 of Empire's opponents petitioned to Stormwind City Police Department, Royal Intelligence Agency, and the Court of Law of Stormwind to begin official investigations against the Twilight Empire. All three government organizations refused to do so, saying that there were no evidence for the charges the petitioners proposed.

Whatever the true case may be, the Empire has become a very influential society whose cause and mission is becoming more popular by the day.

    Long live Alliance!
