Exclusive Interview With the Sponsor
Duke Leomir Barov, Earl of Stormwind
Being so unused to the loud, dirty, busy streets of the city, Stormwind is not the most attractive place to me. Riders, carriages, beggars, thieves, soldiers, screaming merchants, children chasing each other, wild animals (barely tamed by the way) following hunters, posing a threat to little people like myself. I am now nearing the destination, I check the piece of parchment with the address again - "3, Baker Street". Finally, I am here. I knock on the door, the sides of which are decorated with flowers and a tall Night Elf in a tuxedo answers.
"May I help you?" the elf inquires.
"Yes, I'm from the Stormwind Times, you know?"
"Yes, of course. Please, have a seat, His Highness will be with you in a moment."
As the elf exits the living room I get a chance to examine it. It's so much different from the outside streets, a place where I can finally catch my breath. Some walls are almost invisible behind the numerous shelves of books bound in colored leather, while others are decorated with paintings of far off lands and unusual plants and flowers I have never seen before. The cool temperature helps me concentrate on my task. There he is, the reason I'm here! A tall man wearing tight grey clothing, with his perfectly white hair tied behind him descends down the stairs and greets me with a smile from under his beard.
"Your Highness! What a pleasure to meet you!" I jumped up. "I'm Sal Cog from the Stormwind Times."
"The pleasure is all mine, Sal. As you probably know I'm Leo Barov."
"Of course, Mr. Barov. You have a lovely home! By the way, it's so unusual that you prefer the interview to be held at your house instead of your office."
"Well, thank you and for this event I think it's better to be less formal, I'm tired of all the pompous meetings I have to attend to be honest" he chuckled.
"Alright then. Well, let's get down to business then, shall we?"
"Aye, I hear you're on a short schedule here. Shoot, then!"Your Highness, I would like to thank you again for allowing this whole idea to come true, it's so great we finally have a way of bringing news to people. How did you hear of this whole project anyway?
Oh, well, Sal, it's my job to know everything happening in the city as you can probably imagine! Although I will have to admit the news of the Scholars Association planning to create a newspaper was not brought to me by one of my servants but rather by one of the children when I was last visiting the orphanage. He heard it on the streets and said he wants to be a "journapissed" too some day.
Well I'm glad to know that kids want to be something other than just vile warriors nowadays. But it is bound to bring up the question 'Why that?'. I mean a person at your position must have a lot of things to worry about.
Well, that's simple. With the Alliance being so divided nowadays... I mean look at the House of Nobles of Stormwind. I have stopped attending meetings! Many nobles that live in the Keep forget about the outside world and the people and divide the kingdom even more by spending all their time fighting each other. I think this paper will bring us a perfect opportunity to be objective, fair, and, well, more unified.
Mr. Barov... You are an owner of a large corporation, you have the most popular tavern in Stormwind, you trade with such places as Booty Bay, Dalaran, Shattrath, you collect taxes and make some amazing deals. And putting so much money into our organization is not profitable at all! Wouldn't this make your pocket thinner?
I have always been a patron of the arts, the communication service, I do alot of charity work as well. I mean, I don't make it public for I don't need recognition or anything but this is by far not the first non-profitable endeavour I participate in. I believe some things are more important than my own pocket and I have never been greedy. On account of money I always say "It left as it came and as it left it shall come back".
Very wise indeed, m'Lord. Last question to you for today. Do you plan on engaging in another, as you called it, "endeavour" anytime soon?
I always plan! But you will need to see it happen.
And as the Earl winks at me, I know I will get no more information from him today. As I exit his house I begin to think Stormwind isn't such a bad place after all... I might stick around.
