John Lo(w)cock 1766 - 1848

John, the first child of John & Betty Locock, was baptised at Axminster on 2 July 1766.

His parents John Locock & Betty Bryant married the previous year, on 26 Aug 1765 at Axminster, where Betty,the daughter of Samuel Bryant, had been baptised on 2 Feb 1738.

John & Betty had 3 more children baptised at Axminster: Thomas bap 25 Dec 1768, William bap 10 Mar 1771, Jane bap 9 Apr 1779.

On 15 Nov 1791 at Crewkerne: John Lowcock  married Elizabeth Stagg, in the presence of Jos Palmer & Millie Merry.

Elizabeth Stagg was baptised at Crewkerne on 17 May 1769, the 7th of 8 children of Robert & Mary Stagg.

The first 4 children of John & Elizabeth Locock were baptised at Crewkerne:

In the 1851 Census, Elizabeth was at the home of her son Thomas in East Street, Bridport:

Elizabeth Locock, lodger, 81, Pauper, born Somerset Crewkerne.  She died 4 years later and was buried on 29 May 1855.
