Jane Langworthy 1829 - 1927

Jane, the fifth child of Henry & Mary Ann Langworthy, was born on 5 May 1829 and baptised at Kingswear on 12 July 1829.

She was not at home in Kingswear for 1841 Census. In 1851 census, she was a servant at 10 The Strand, Tormoham (Torquay).

The following year she married in Kingswear Parish Church on 3 Nov 1852.

Three months later both Jane’s mother and her sister Mary Ann were dead.

In 1853, Harry & Jane Beard and Jane’s sister Ann Elizabeth Langworthy emigrated to the United States of America, where Ann Elizabeth married Harry’s brother Thomas  Beard.

Harry & Jane Beard had  8 children. The first William H Beard was born in 1854 in Chicago, Illinois.

In 1856, Charles Henry was born in Hudson, Wisconsin. In 1860 twins Thomas Edward and Joseph were born in St Louis, Missouri. In 1862 the family were back in Hudson, Wisconsin, where the last 4 children were born: Bessie L in 1862, Ellen M in 1865, Jennie B in 1867 and Mary Ann in 1871. Harry & Jane remained in Hudson until after 1900.

In 1920 they were in Portland, Multnomah County, Oregon. Harry died there on 31 Jan 1921 and Jane on 20 Feb 1927. They were both buried in  Milwaukie Cemetery, Clackamas County, Oregon.
