Henry Charles Langworthy 1817 - 1859

Henry Charles, the first child of Henry and Mary Ann Langworthy, was baptised at Kingswear on 13 Jan 1817.

The only other record we have found of him is (from www.old-merseytimes.co.uk) the entry in the Daily Post January 1860, Deaths 1859.  29th November, lost on the Lady Franklin, Henry Charles Langworthy, aged 43, of 17 Wesley Street, Liverpool, formerly of Dartmouth Devon.

In the 1851 Census, with his widowed mother at Kingswear, was her daughter-in-law Sarah Langworthy, age 29, Mariner’s wife, born Shrewsbury.

In the following year, Charles Henry was born in Dorrington, Condover, in the County of Salop (Shropshire) on 30 April 1852. His Birth Certificate names his father Charles Henry Langworthy, Sea Captain, and his mother Sarah Langworthy, formerly Lewis.

The 1851 Census shows Sarah Langworthy at Everton, Liverpool, as a widow aged 39, Beer Seller, born Salop, NK, with her 3 children Henry C 8, George 6, Frederick 1; Henry and George were born Salop, NK, while Frederick was born Lancashire, Liverpool.

Sarah was married again in Q4 1863 to Robert Watson, born in Scotland.

The 1871 Census shows them at 38 Georges Road, West Derby, Lancashire:

In 1881, Sarah, known as Langworthy again, was in Liscard, Cheshire, Servant, age 59, Housekeeper Domestic, born Shropshire.

In the 1901 Census, Sarah Langworthy was in Liscard with her son George and his family.

She died a few weeks later. Her death was registered as Sarah Watson, age 77.
