Wax Impressions Workshop with Nicole Collins

Capture the beauty of Malcolm Island’s natural found materials with Sointula Art Shed visiting Artist Nicole Collins. Using wax and wood, fabrics and plants, participants will create unique and beautiful patterns and drawings. No experience necessary. All materials provided.

$85 includes all materials and lunch, light snacks, tea and coffee. (Please pay cash at the workshop)

Nicole Collins’ artistic practice focuses on the effect of time, accumulation, force and heat on visceral materials, through painting, drawing, installation, intervention, video, and sound. Since 1994 she has exhibited extensively including solo exhibitions at The Art Gallery of Ontario (2013) and The Embassy of Canada in Tokyo (2001) and group exhibitions in Toronto, Hamilton, St. Johns, New York, Miami, London and Zurich. Collins is Assistant Professor in the Contemporary Painting and Print Media program at the Ontario College of Art & Design University (OCADU) and she lives in Toronto with her husband artist Michael Davidson and their daughter. Her work is represented by General Hardware Contemporary Art Gallery in Toronto. She will be exhibiting the works created in Sointula at C4 Contemporary Art, Los Angeles in June 2015
