NOTE RocketRacer is not a glider. It requires a recovery system if you want to fly it again. We recommend 1000 mm x 100 mm milar streamer.

Design Description

Google Sketchup8 software was used to design our model. Our design file is attached at the bottom of this page.


Complete  OpenRocket and Google SketchUp files  attached at the bottom of this page. Note that OR is not able to model the plane configuration exactly as it is. Two vertical fins are replaced with a single fin of double thickness.   

Two A4 size sheets of component plans can be found at the bottom of this page as well. All dimensions are adjusted for 1.6 mm thick material. I used slightly finer, 1.4mm, cardboard, but it makes no significant difference.

Material: Daler-Rowney white core mountboard

Glue: CA practically for all elements

The model was sanded, primed and painted in the usual way.

Note CG location without a motor is  105...107 mm from the nose tip. Additional weight -approx 7...8 g - is required. Modelling clay or office "Blu-Tack"  can be used.
