These courses for trainers are presented in five strands, including
  • training in starting and running a business, 
  • developing training presentations, 
  • being recognized as a training professional, 
  • technology tools for training, and 
  • independent study in content and niche development. 

Courses are listed below by strand, or use the Quick Links list to access courses to try.


Courses are offered in three formats: as a PowerPoint video you may watch on your computer almost immediately, and an immediate-download audio mp3 file, or as an audio CD you can order to be shipped to you. 

Courses in all formats earn the same professional development hours; however, the videos offer the most complete experience, including both visual and auditory learning. 

Because the audio files used for the CDs and mp3 are the same audio files as those used in the videos, they may refer to things on-screen that an audio-listener cannot see. Choose the format that fits yours needs and your budget.

Eventually you can apply your courses to your CTECE credential, if you like.

The CTECE required core courses are indicated in red. There are six of these, plus the two Content/Independent Study courses that help you develop your own training curriculum. 

All of the other courses are electives in the CTECE credential program. If you are working towards your CTECE credential, you must add at least 10 of these to your program, so that the total number of courses completed is 18.

Your training practice needs a coherent identity that signals your respectability and expertise. In addition, your practice cannot be silent in the marketplace, but must communicate the value of what you offer using multiple channels. What are those channels? How do you create an identity? Public Speaking for Early Childhood Trainers

For many of us, the threat of having to stand in front of a group and talk is the thing that worries us most about being a trainer. Others of us should be more worried about public speaking and do a better job of it! In order to create wonderful content, a trainer has to know that content thoroughly. But most of us don't take the time to really read the work of the best thinkers even in a field we care a lot about. We tend to read exactly the same things the participants to our training sessions read. This makes it very difficult to deliver training that provides fresh ideas or depth of understanding. To do that, we've got to know more.

Once you know more than anyone about your content niche, the next thing to do is to share that knowledge with others. You do that by creating training proposals. This is what you'll do in this course.
