Who We Are

We are a group of people — mostly parents of children with special needs along with district administrators and special education staff — who work on a wide range of issues related to special education in Los Altos, Palo Alto, and Mountain View, California. "SELPA" stands for Special Education Local Plan Area, as it is defined by the state Office of Education, and "CAC" stands for Community Advisory Committee. Formed in 1994, the SELPA 1 CAC is dedicated to raising awareness and education on special needs issues in the four school districts that make up our SELPA: Los Altos, Mountain View-Whisman, Mountain View Los Altos High, and Palo Alto Unified.

Get Involved!

If you are the parent of a special needs child in Los Altos, Mountain View or Palo Alto, the CAC Steering Committee needs you!  We meet the first Monday of each month during the school year, from 9-11 AM, in the Special Education portable at the Mountain View-Los Altos Union High School District Office, 1299 Bryant Avenue, Mountain View.  Make a difference in the life of a special needs child!
