We offer Full Season and Half Season apprenticeships and welcome anyone who is willing and able to perform most basic farm tasks, like hoeing, planting, weeding and harvesting. Applicants must be in decent physical shape, able to work outdoors for 8 hours a day, willing to share housing, and wishing to immerse yourself into a meaningful season on a small farm. No experience is necessary, but apprentices must be interested in learning and practicing the arts and sciences of a real working farm.
Apprentices work alongside experienced farmers every day, participating in most of our day-to-day activities throughout the growing season. We also offer weekly classes and field trips to cover different aspects of farming in more depth and offer a broad perspective on the many different styles and personalities of local agriculture. Apprentices are expected to work 8 hours a day, 5 days a week, but also receive 5 personal days vacation.
Apprentices receive a living stipend starting at $300/month and housing on site. Housing is shared by two to three other apprentices or practicing farmers.
We offer Full Season, 7-month, positions, and Half-Season, 3-month, positions. The Full Season generally runs from April through October. The Half-Season is generally from June through August. Other time periods may be possible. Those who qualify may be invited for a second season, with winter housing available.
All interested applicants are encouraged to apply, but priority is given to those who want to start or manage a small farm of their own one day. We will teach you how to farm and grow your own food. If you want to learn, we want to hear from you!
