the day after
Venue - The Convent
This is a beautiful location and was the perfect spot for us. We got a great deal on it, though the price has now jumped significantly. Everyone at the wedding told me what a gorgeous and unique place it is, and I agree. The major drawback was the site coordinator, Anthony. He was consistently late to meetings and never answered all the questions I would ask in an email. Not a deal breaker for me, but certainly frustrating. I just tried to avoid him as much as possible.
Caterer - Casa Sol
The food was absolutely delicious and the price was great too. They even threw in a few extras for no charge. There were a couple of things that did go quite right. I asked for 2 gluten-free meals for 2 guests. I made certain with them that this could be accommodated, and they assured me it would not be a problem. The day of the wedding, they were served potatoes with a cream sauce and no one could tell them what was in the sauce. Since they didn’t want to risk getting sick, they didn’t eat. They did work with me when there were some bank issues the week before, which I really appreciated.
Florist - Eden’s Echo
Very Highly Recommended
I could not have asked for more! Everything Erin made was absolutely beautiful and even better them I had imagined. She totally got my vision and went above and beyond to make it work in my (small) budget. She was my favorite vendor by far. Book her!
Photographer - Jason Speros
Finding Jason was a dream. He is an up and coming photographer with a great eye. He is really laid back and easy to work with. We love our pictures!
Cake - Seventh Heaven Cakes
Michelle is so sweet and makes delicious and beautiful cakes. She took James’ idea for his groom’s cake and ran with it. Everything looked perfect on the wedding day and was there right on time.
DJ - Music Connection
He was there on time with everything ready to go. The DJ was friendly and played everything we asked for. The party ended a little earlier than we really wanted, but I think that was due to an older guest list than our DJ’s ability.
Ceremony Music – Allegretto Music
The music sounded beautiful and really set the tone for our ceremony. Very easy to work with.
Rentals – Absolute Rentals
We rented cocktail tables and mahogany folding chairs for our wedding. Everything was delivered on time and they had the best price in town. They give a 10% discount to any first time customer too!
Minister - Pastor John Roberts
We found Pastor John a little last minute because of a tragedy with our original pastor. He did a great job and gave us a beautiful and moving ceremony.
Dress and Bridesmaids – Lee Phillip Bridals (online)
I saved nearly ½ on my Pronovias dress and $50 on each of my girls’ B2 dress. Communication was great and everything shipped on time, or earlier. The dresses came in perfect condition.
Alterations - Cecile’s Alterations (Kingwood, TX)
They butchered my dress. Then were spots on my dress and the fabric was literally fall off in places when I came to pick it up. What’s worse is that she thought she did a great job. Run away!
Alterations - Beautiful U (Houston, TX)
Very Highly Recommended
Arlene is a miracle worker and basically remade my dress so that it would be perfect. She is so sweet and even gave me a discount because of what I went through with my first seamstress.
Tuxes - Al’s Formalwear
Recommended with Reservations
James and both of our dads had problems with their tuxes. They were all fixed though in time for the wedding. We got a great deal by booking at a bridal show. I would recommend picking up the tuxes on Thursday so there is time to fix any potential problems
