This digital project is the culmination of research, class meetings, fieldwork, and collaboration among Fordham University Urban Studies master's candidates enrolled in the graduate course, The American Suburb, during the fall semester of 2011. Examining the historical, philosophical, physical, political, and social components of the creation and evolution of American suburbs, a case study methodology was chosen to provide particular context for the current challenges and aspirations of suburban communities. This project evaluates the current practices and conditions of the Village of Hastings-on-Hudson, New York in five areas: downtown improvements, food & community, governance, housing & demographics, and transportation.
