Admired by H. G. Wells and Raymond Queneau, likened to Joyce and Kafka and hailed as the author of “the greatest diary a man has written”, W. N. P. Barbellion (1889–1919) is paradoxically a neglected figure, unknown to most readers and overlooked by most histories of English literature. The present website, which consists of extracts from my book The Quotable Barbellion (1999; 2nd edition, 2000), aims at rectifying this situation. Anybody interested in learning more about the man or his work is welcome to email me at bondhutton@aol.com.
