Having a wedding in a small town like Hayward, WI is an interesting task. You definitely have to work hard to find good vendors but in the end I really do think it will pay off. Here are our growing list of vendors and what we think of them.
My Parents' House: For our ceremony I really wanted a beautiful, unique location and easily decided on my parents' house on Lower Twin Lake in Hayward, Wisconsin. This is the starting point of our wedding planning and the entire wedding will center around their house.
Ramada Inn: So far they've been very helpful in helping us find other vendors. It's hard to find good vendors in Hayward because it's such a small town so they've been great at telling us who's good and who's not so good.
Ramada Inn: We've been to our tasting and decided on a really great menu. The manager, who will also be our bartender for the night, was great in helping us pick out foods that will be great for the wedding. Menu to come.
Doug Cameron: Doug is an old high school friend of my dad's and he now lives about 5 minutes away from my parents. He's hysterical and really down to earth, I'm so happy he agreed to be our officiant!
Sara Thiry: I also found Sara at the wedding expo. I was drawn to her photography, she's got some amazing work and she loves to work in the outdoors, a must for me considering the ceremony and cocktail hour will be outside at my parents' house. Update: Sara sent us our engagement pictures and they're AMAZING! Can't wait to see what she does with the wedding! She's also working on a guestbook for us. Sara's pretty much amazing.
Sounds Unlimited Entertainment: Our reception site recommended Sounds Unlimited as being the best around. They're from Duluth but they also travel to Wisconsin and Michigan. I'm really excited to have them and I think they're going to do an amazing job. So far they've been extremely easy to work with.
Hayward Bakery and Cheese Shop: My parents and I found
HBCS at the Hayward Wedding Expo. I've walked past the store a zillion
times and never dreamed they'd one day be doing my wedding cake! They
have AMAZING cakes and can design anything my heart desires. I'm very
excited to work with them and to see the finished result!
Flowers by Dawn: So far I am SO pleased. We're working with Katie, who does all the weddings that Flowers by Dawn takes on. Katie is AMAZING! We sat down to discuss with her what we were looking for and you could just see the excitement in her eyes. She LOVES what she does and I know she's going to do an amazing job for us!
Rexcraft:In the grand scheme of planning my wedding, I didn't care all that much about the invitations. I know it's kind of like a first impression of the wedding but honestly, I can't remember what a single wedding invitation I've ever received looks like. So, my parents found Rexcraft online, we found something we liked and we ordered them. The invites are nice and a decent price. We had no problem ordering what we needed and they arrived on time.
Savvi Formalwear: I should actually have Dustin write this review because he's picking out the tuxes all by himself. But I guess I'll do. Savvi is AMAZING. D gets his tux for free, the boys get $25 off theirs, we get money towards groomsman gifts... just awesome. Plus we can pick up as early as Thursday and don't have to drop off until Monday night. I would HIGHLY recommend Savvi!
David's Bridal: DB's was only the second dress store I'd been to and I was a little apprehensive because I'd heard some bad reviews. However, my girls and I stopped into the Oakdale location and had WONDERFUL service. Sarah has helped me both times I've been to the store and she actually picked out MY dress!
David's Bridal: I told my girls that all I wanted was for them to wear black tea-length dresses. I didn't care if they were all different. One of them found a dress that she loved and oddly enough the all ended up liking it!
Old Hayward Eatery and Brew Pub: Dustin's dad and stepmom found our rehearsal dinner location so I have yet to have contact with them. I'll update this when we have the rehearsal dinner.
Steph Lehnertz: Steph is a friend of Dustin and mine and is actually getting married about two weeks before us. She'll be doing my hair and makeup along with Amber and Jill's hair.
My hair trial is August 23rd and I can't wait to see how great Steph is going to make it look!
Carnival Conquest: I've been on one Carnival cruise before and LOVED it, so when we started talking about the honeymoon I knew I had to show Dustin how much fun cruising is.
We'll be leaving January 4th from Texas and will be on the ship from then until the 12th. Our ports are Jamaica, Grand Cayman and Cozumel. I am SO excited for this!
